Frequently Asked Questions

5 questions answered
The Ganga Aarti is a magnificent Hindu fire ritual performed every evening at Dashashwamedh Ghat on the banks of the Ganges River. Priests simultaneously perform the ceremony with large fire lamps (diyas), incense and chanting — it is one of the most awe-inspiring spectacles in India.
Yes! A sunrise boat ride along the ghats is included. Gliding past the ancient ghats at dawn — while pilgrims bathe, priests pray, and the city wakes up — is an unforgettable experience. The evening Ganga Aarti is viewed from the ghat steps or optionally from a boat.
Key ghats on the itinerary include: Dashashwamedh Ghat (main Aarti ghat), Manikarnika Ghat (the sacred cremation ghat — viewed respectfully), Assi Ghat, Tulsi Ghat, and Harishchandra Ghat. Your guide will explain the significance of each.
Varanasi is best visited with an overnight stay to catch both sunrise and the evening Aarti. However, a fast train (Vande Bharat Express, ~8 hours from Delhi) or a flight (1.5 hours) can make it a manageable trip. We can help arrange transport and accommodation.
Dress modestly — covered shoulders and knees are appropriate near temples and ghats. Photography at Manikarnika Ghat (cremation) is strictly prohibited and must be respected. Your guide will ensure you are briefed on customs and etiquette throughout.
